In his talk Tuomo Rainio will introduce some of his art works and talk about his artistic practice, chaos, chance and moments of clarity.

Tuomo Rainio is a visual artist based in Helsinki. He is currently working as a lecturer in art and technology at the Academy of Fine Arts at the Uniarts Helsinki. Rainio works with a wide range of lens-based media and live media performance. His art works often focus on transformations and transitions in the medium as well as in the subject matter. In his latest projects Rainio is especially interested in the intermedia between digital photography and programming, where his main focus is on the ontology of images and translation. His works have been included in various group exhibitions in Maison Européenne de la photo, Paris, ECCO, Cadiz, MAC Niteroi in Rio de Janeiro, Berlinische Galerie, Berlin Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome, Italy 2008 Image and After, Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki, The Museum of Finnish Photography, Helsinki.
