Call to join Research Day V: Performance of/in/as an Institution
The fifth research day of the Academy of Finland project How to Do Things with Performance? focuses on performance and institutions. Join us on 1 November 2019 at the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts, Auditorium 1 (Haapaniemenkatu 6, Helsinki).
How can we think of the various relationships between performances and institutions? Performances are created in institutions more or less devoted or conducive to performance. institutions also perform their various policies and strategies regarding performance. Performance is, in itself, an institution.
In four conversations, each of the members of the research project discuss with their invited research partners topics relevant for their particular approach to performance. Our guests are Jana Unmüssig, Suvi Salmenniemi, Mari Toivanen, Jussi Koitela and Kira O’Reilly. Each conversation opens to a discussion on the topic with the audience. We welcome critical comments and participation from anyone interested in discussing performance in institutions, the performance of institutions, or performance as an institution.
