Luento on peruttu sairastapauksen vuoksi. Pahoittelemme! Unfortunately this lecture has been canceled due to illness.

The Prognostics lecture series will begin in 2019 with Jenni Laiti's lecture 'Reconnecting through resistance'. The lecture will deal with Saami resistance, the activities of the Suohpanterror collective and art as a medium for action.

Jenni Unni Aili Laiti (b. 1981) is a Saami artivist, indigenous rights activist and traditional Saami craft maker. She is from Aanaar (Inari), Finnish side of Sápmi and lives now in Jåhkåmåhkke (Jokkmokk), Swedish side of Sápmi with her fiancé and two children. They are reindeer herders in Sirges Saami reindeer herding community. Laiti is a member of Suohpanterror collective, who creatively promotes indigenous Saami rights and fights against colonization and exploitation of Sápmi in an artivistic way.

In recent years she has been active in the fight against a planned mining project in her home village, advocating for climate justice in Sápmi and local self-determination in the Deatnu river system. Laiti's artivistical work composes culture jamming, direct action, performances, and community art. Her work deals colonialism, decolonialism, right to one's own culture and land, traditional knowledge, sustainability and deep reciprocity.

Prognostics lectures map new areas of art, which challenge established forms of art, exhibition methods, and shake up societal norms and political thinking. Prognostics lecture series is supported by Saastamoinen Foundation.
