Ragtime! – 4th post-graduate recital of Eveliina Sumelius-Lindblom
In her fourth post-graduate recital, pianist Eveliina Sumelius-Lindblom takes the listener on a journey from the ragtime music of saloons to the salons of Paris and onwards to concert halls, up to the present time.
The recital is a bold comment on how French modernism in the 1920s was influenced by popular music, specifically ragtime and Latin American music, starting with Scott Joplin and Darius Milhaud and concluding with the premiere of Three Rag Babies by Seppo Pohjola.
This is a unique and unprecedented recital programme, good-humoured and perceptive at the same time. Guest performers include prominent Finnish musicians.
