Sunnuntai, marraskuu 11, 2018 - 18:00 - 19:30
Music Centre, Organo
Vapaa pääsy
Research-led lecture-concert.

This research-led lecture-concert will bring together performer-scholars working in Finland, Germany/Russia, and the UK to present their work with Beethoven and Mendelssohn to the audience in a way that explores and demonstrates nineteenth-century style, technique, and expression in an engaging and meaningful way.

The genius minds of Beethoven and Mendelssohn may already be familiar to modern audiences, but presenting their music on period instruments, in historical style, will explore their works in a context that has the potential to offer new insights − thus bringing to life a sound world unfamiliar to today’s listeners.

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Piano Trio in C minor Op. 1 N.3
Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847): Piano Trio in D minor Op. 49 N.1

Claire Holden, classical violin
Guadalupe López-Íñiguez, classical cello
Olga Andryushchenko, historical pianos

The concert is organized by Uniarts' Center for Educational Research and Academic Development in the Arts (CERADA), supported by Uniarts' Center for Artistic Research (CfAR) and the University of Oxford's Faculty of Classical Music (UK), and is part of Dr. López-Íñiguez's new research project "Transforming Musicianship: Developing Musicians’ Learner Identity Through Multidisciplinary Pedagogy" funded by the Academy of Finland.
