The Nordic Master in Folk Music students, collectively known as Farandi, perform at Musiikkitalo in Helsinki to celebrate the end of their stay in Finland. Since August they have been based in Helsinki while studying at the Sibelius Academy. During this time they have composed and arranged new works inspired by local folk traditions and their experiences. Farandi are thrilled to share this new material in concert and to thank the community who have hosted them this past autumn.

Farandi are six musicians from five different countries brought together by a love of Nordic folk music. Presenting the best of Denmark, Finland, UK, Sweden and Belgium, they explore the full possibilities of acoustic music, from traditional to contemporary, from minimal to symphonic. Described as a “transparent ocean orchestra” (Olof Misgeld), this unique ensemble is composed of nyckelharpas (Swedish keyed fiddle), accordion, flute, piano, bagpipes and whistles.
