Researchers Anna Kuoppamäki and Fanny Vilmilä found both formal and nonformal ways to successful musical agency and cultural authorship.

Worldmaking with the Aesthetic Apparatus
The project creates experimental settings that grant the spectator access to the process of imaging. The research develops an artist-led, empiric approach to study the sweeping repercussions that visual technologies may have in orienting the human sensorium and in underpinning our worldview.

International Research Advisory Board urges the University of the Arts Helsinki to clarify its research goals
The Research Advisory Board (RAB) visited Helsinki in February. The theme of the visit was synergies between the Academies and the Research Institute. In its report, the international RAB praised the excellent research ideas and inspiring research activities at Uniarts Helsinki. It also identified problems that all universities are struggling with and proposed nine development measures.

The Research Assessment recommendations for Uniarts Helsinki include a model for research time management, establishing a career development infrastructure and developing a shared understanding of societal impact
The Assessment Panel noted an excellent reputation on which the Uniarts Helsinki can build and emphasized the importance of strategic planning as well as resourcing research activities adequately.

Research Pavilion
Fine arts, concerts, performances, workshops and discussions with an inquiring mindset – every two years, the Uniarts Helsinki Research Pavilion showcases what artistic research is all about. On 2023, the Research Pavilion was funded by Niilo Helanderin säätiö. It took place in Suomenlinna and Helsinki Music Centre in June with a tagline “Puzzled together”.
