Aims and career opportunities

As a pianist specialised in lied and chamber music, you are adept at demanding piano-playing techniques and familiar with the most important styles of Western piano music. Having completed your degree, you may begin working as professional chamber musician and lied pianist, with the capacity of also functioning as a solo pianist if need be.

Content and structure of the education

The 2.5-year master’s degree programme in piano chamber music and lied is intended for pianists with a a bachelor’s degree or similar. Your education is focused on lied and chamber music. Main subject studies consist of courses in chamber music, lied and piano. The master’s degree additionally comprises studies of information as well as written and elective studies. In completion of your degree you will prepare a thesis project that consists of two concerts. One of these will be in chamber music, the other focused on lied. You will also prepare the programme texts for these concerts.
