Job description

Lecturer in trumpet, Sibelius Academy (degree students and youth academy students, also pedagogy and chamber music)

I started to play trumpet age 7 in the Pirkkala’s church band. Three years later, I got a place in Tampere Music School to study with Mr. Raimo Sarmas.

I continued my studies in Sibelius Academy 1976-1980 to be graduated. I have completed my trumpet studies in Copenhagen (Knud Hovaldt) and in Zurich (Henri Adelbrecht)

I have made most of my career by playing solo trumpet in Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Tampere Philharmonic. I have also played as soloist with all finnish symphony orchestras after I won the first prize in a national competition in 1976.

I have also played chamber music with many ensembles, for example Avanti! chamber orchestra.

When I moved 1to Tampere in 1990, I got a great opportunity to continue the work that R. Sarmas had done until then; teaching in conservatory.

I have also played shows in theatres of Tampere and the latest group I have attended is called Soulfakers: an ensemble that plays music by Blood Sweat and Tears and Tower of Power.
