The partnership will generate new kinds of events in the urban centre located in the historical Torikorttelit complex and facilitate interaction between artists, researchers and entrepreneurs working in the creative sector.
The University of the Arts Helsinki (Uniarts Helsinki) and the urban centre Sofia Future Farm have signed a partnership agreement. The partnership will lead to a range of events centred on arts, culture and creative economy to be organised at Sofia Future Farm located near the Senate Square in 2019.
Next year, Uniarts Helsinki and Sofia Future Farm will organise talks and panels with a range of topics, including creativity, changes in the labour market, different scenarios for the future, and connections between culture and business. The talks and panels will be organised at Sofia Future Farm, and the speakers will be Uniarts Helsinki’s students and staff as well as social influencers from both Finland and abroad.
Thanks to the partnership, students and staff members of the university will have the chance to work as part of the community of creative professionals in the historical Torikorttelit complex. The partnership will facilitate interaction between artists, researchers and entrepreneurs working in the creative sector.
“We want to utilise this partnership to make Uniarts Helsinki’s art and research interact with society at large. Our goal is to make the spaces on our campuses more open in the future – this partnership is sort of like a pilot ahead of this process”, said Uniarts Helsinki’s Rector Jari Perkiömäki.
Sofia Future Farm, located next to the Senate Square, is a new urban centre for creative work and good life. The centre houses co-working spaces, meeting rooms, several restaurants and a wellness studio. Sofia Future Farm’s goal is to create an active community of 300 to 400 creative professionals.
