If the “sound-color melody” is a musical technique that was theorized by Arnold Schoenberg in his Theory of Harmony (1910), this concept travelled in Europe and influenced several composers. The musical line is then thought to be splitted between several instruments, adding new colors and textures to a melody. This discourse’s fragmentation also influenced solo music writing.

Alban Berg was a former student of Schoenberg and carried the Schoenberg’s heritage in his own works. Giacinto Scelsi dedicated his life to explore the core of the sound in order to reveal the multiple colors of each single sound.
