Ville Raasakka – Coal, Wood, Oil
In Ville Raasakka’s first postgraduate concert themed on ecology, the sounds of oil, wood and coal meet musical instruments.
You can watch a free free live stream of the concert on Youtube, 20 November, 14–15:05. Free recording of the concert is available on Youtube right after the concert.
The works of the concert deal with coal, wood and oil, their collection, their use for energy and other products, and their decomposition in nature.
Coal Power Station (2016) was recorded at Hanasaari coal power station, Bark (2020) contains recordings of feelings in Guinean rain forests, and Oil Rig (2020) is based on recordings made at Forties oil drilling platform in the North Sea. Everyday Etudes No.4: fireplace (2021) focuses on the sounds produced by lighting a fire and getting warm, and Benzene (2019) on the sounds and advertising videos of cosmetic products derived from crude oil.
