Uniarts Hub pre-incubator programme’s Demo Day

Uniarts Hub pre-incubator programme’s main event presents the current participants’ pitches and top guest speakers from the arts industry.

Launched this autumn, the Uniarts Hub pre-incubator programme will culminate in a live event at the Theatre Academy’s Tori on 16 November at 13:00-17:00.

The event programme consists of an Art Entrepreneurship seminar where the industry’s top professionals speak about business possibilities in creative and art industries, after which the current participants will pitch their business ideas for the audience and jury. Speaker guests include Katja Tukiainen, Jari Perkiömäki and Helene Auramo.  

Uniarts Hub Demo Day is an official side event of Slush.

Katja Tukiainen

Katja Tukiainen (b.1969, Arctopolis) is a visual artist and a Doctor of Fine Arts from Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki. ”When I was a young GIRL people asked when shall I stop painting with pink. Now I am an old GIRL.” she says andpaints girls and women where once were men.

Helene Auramo

Helene Auramo is CEO and Chief Ethical Officer & Co-Founder of Prönö. She is also an entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Slush (Europe’s biggest startup event), Zipipop (the first social media agency in Finland), and Indiedays (the first fashion blogger site in Finland).

Taina Seitsara

Master of Arts (Aalto University former UIAH), working over 10 years as a Senior Specialist among Creative Industries in City of Helsinki`s Executive Office, Economic Development Department, Business Environments Unit. Having over 20 years working experience operating in Finnish Creative Industries higher education, productization, business operations, exporting activities, CCI ecosystem development, public funding and public-private co-operations.

Jani Joenniemi

Jani has a background as an entrepreneur in the creative industries, particularly music and media, focusing on Asian markets. He currently works as a network specialist for the EUIPO – European Intellectual Property Office and is deployed at the Finnish Patent and Registration Office. His work is to develop new partner networks and activities as well as European collaboration around intellectual property, targeting SMEs.  

Jari Perkiömäki

Jari Perkiömäki is a jazz musician, educator, producer and enterpreneur. He works as lecturer in jazz music and is also former vice-rector of the Sibelius Academy and rector of the Uniarts Helsinki. He is currently a member of the boards of the Pori Jazz Festival and Lilith Cooperative of creative fields.

Satu-Mari Jansson

Satu Mari Jansson has just celebrated 10 years with her company TheatreWorks Training. Satu-Mari considers herself a pedagogue, trainer, screenwriter, scientist, and creator of Work Community Theatre. In addition to her work, she wrote her dissertation on theatre and drama as learning forms in organisations.

By simulating real-life interaction, Satu Mari goes through different work practices, personalities and analyses organisation’s and people’s strengths, weaknesses and helps them to develop.  Satu-Mari’s clients are companies from very different industries; for example, finance, IT and the construction industry. 

Elsa Ervasti

Elsa has coached hundreds of startups who drive digital innovations in food tech, health, education and wellness. Elsa has a human approach to coaching and she uses theatre-based methods developing entrepreneur skills. She has coached in several universities work life skills, for example: Åbo Akademi, Uniarts Helsinki, Aalto University IDBM program, Metropolia and Turku YAMK. She has also been coaching young speakers at the public speaking training program for Slush x Talk The Talk 2016 and 2017.

Elsa has a dynamic and creative way of coaching pitching, stage presence and interaction skills. 

Uniarts Hub supports entrepreneurship in arts industries

Uniarts Hub is a pre-incubator programme that aims to support entrepreneurship in the creative sector and arts industries. The programme offers a clear info package on different possibilities of entrepreneurship in creative industries as well as support in developing the participants’ own business ideas.

The three-month programme employs experienced professionals from business and creative sectors as lecturers, workshop instructors and mentors. The course content is tailored to meet the participants’ individual needs. The Hub is a part of the Campus Incubators programme consisting of seven universities and funded by the city of Helsinki.

If you’re a creative or arts professional in need of support in starting and developing your own business idea, apply to next spring’s Uniarts Hub programme! The programme is open for students, alumni and all creative or arts professionals. 

The application period starts in December and is open 1.12.-23.1. The 12-week programme starts in February 2023.
