Helsinki Harp Festivals harp competition

Competitors selected by video audition perform the compulsory piece – the solo Solveig’s Dreams by Vladimir Agopov, a composition teacher at the Sibelius Academy – and one of the following: Paul Hindemith: Sonata; Gabriel Fauré: Une chatelaine en sa Tour op. 110; Gabriel Fauré: Impromptu op. 86; Louis Spohr: Fantasie op. 35. 

The final round is held on the same day at 18.00. In the final round, competitors must play one movement from a work by Bach or Scarlatti, a harp solo work written after 1980, and a virtuoso work by a harpist-composer. 

The distinguished jury is formed of chief conductor Jaakko Kuusisto (chairman), harp teacher Gabriella Bosio from Italy, harpist Reija Bister, Professor of Woodwind Harri Mäki, and harpist Isabel Moreton from Germany, correspondent for the World Harp Congress.

The Competition is part of the Helsinki Harp Festival. The Helsinki Harp Festival is held at the Music Centre from 13 to 16 Feb 2020.
