Beyond borders – Clarinet music from Russia and the Soviet Union
In her fifth post-graduate recital, clarinettist Anne Elisabeth Piirainen explores clarinet music from Russia, the former Soviet Union and by emigré-composers. The programme includes various styles and instrumentations, even the rarely heard theremin. Most of the works have never been performed in Finland before. As a special Finnish connection, Piirainen and friends perform the Clarinet Sonata of Vladimir Agopov, an Armenian-born composer who is resident in Finland and teaches at the Sibelius Academy.
