Combining instruments with electronic sound processing is a key feature of the project.

Landscapes in Green and White (LGW) is a Finnish-Austrian project involving seven concerts and related workshops, focusing on new concert music written for folk instruments. Most of the works performed in the project are new, commissioned for the purpose. The electronics are managed by composer Karlheinz Essl, Professor of Electroacoustic Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, and his students. The Chinese guzheng, the Austrian zither and the Finnish kantele are plucked string instruments, while the Finnish liru is a clarinet-like wind instrument.
