A story about a faithful wife whose death changed the course of the history of Ancient Rome.

For more than two millennia, artists and thinkers have pondered the fate of a faithful wife whose death changed the course of the history of Ancient Rome.

Benjamin Britten’s story is here framed with a contemporary viewpoint, being set at a university in the present day. But what are the teachers, the Male Chorus and Female Chorus characters, trying to teach? What is the impact of the lecture on the participants and the viewers? If it is the job of teachers to provoke and to enlighten, sometimes even to shock, but also to take care of their students, then what happens if this balance is upset?
