Jarkko Lahti & Antti Paalanen: Our men at the shrine
Miehemme Hiidellä [Our men at the shrine] is a staged game for an actor and a musician, a shared dream of an ancient ritual. The word hiisi refers to a sacred grove, a site of cult worship and sacrifice, in the traditions of the Baltic-Finnic peoples. This tapestry of love, desire, hopes, fears and memories is like life itself: true, but a myth. The texts used are by Nils-Aslak Valkeapää, Ari-Pekka Lahti, Henrik Ibsen and by our ancestors, conveyed through folk poetry.
