Fest på Tre Kronor! – Hemma i främmande land?
In her fifth post-graduate recital soprano Kajsa Dahlbäck and the Earthly Angels ensemble perform music from Queen Christina's court.
During this concert we will follow Christina's life, first through her mother’s, widow queen Maria Eleonora’s, sad phases, as she takes her first steps as a Queen of Sweden. We experience the abdication of the throne and her journey to Rome.
Queen Christina had an ambivalent relationship with women and femininity. As the only heir to the throne, she was raised as a king, despite her gender. She chose to never marry and expressed her contempt towards women at an early age. Despite this, she showed interest in female singers and offered them work, both at the Tre Kronor, a castle located in Stockholm, and at Tordinona in Rome, a theater she founded.
In this concert we hear music that these female singers sang for Christina both in Stockholm and in Rome.
