Maj Lind Piano Competition: Orchestral Finals 1
First Orchestral Final of the International Maj Lind Piano Competition
The International Maj Lind Piano Competition will culminate in Orchestral Finals at the Helsinki Music Centre in which the contestants will perform a piano concerto with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Anna-Maria Helsing. The winners will be announced at the end of the second Orchestral Final on October 27, 2022.
The finalists will perform one of the following concertos:
- Bartók No. 2 or 3
- Beethoven No. 3, 4 or 5
- Brahms No. 1 or 2
- Chopin No. 1 or 2
- Grieg
- Liszt No. 1 or 2
- Mozart No. 15 B-flat major (K.450), 19 F major (K.459), 21 C major (K.467) or 22 E-flat major (k.482)
- Prokofiev No. 2 or 3
- Rachmaninov No. 2, 3 or Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini
- Ravel G Major or Concerto for the Left Hand
- Saint-Saëns No. 2 or 5
- Schumann
- Tchaikovsky No. 1
- Schumann E-flat major op. 4
International Maj Lind Competition 14-27 October 2022
The high-profile International Maj Lind Piano Competition will be bringing around 40 young keyboard virtuosi from all over the world to Helsinki in October. The lucky competition applicants will play a wide selection of familiar works by composers ranging from Beethoven to Sibelius and from Rachmaninov to Chopin, but also more recent repertoire. The six contestants successful in the exciting first two rounds will proceed to the finals.
