Global Fest: Global Choir and The Big Sing

Community singing event open to all.

The Big Sing is a free community singing event open to all ages and areas of our community. Come and join in an uplifting singing experience spontaneously led by Merzi Rajala and Global Choir through rhythmic choir conducting techniques. No previous singing experience needed.

Performers

  • Global Choir

This multicultural choir performs music based on vocal techniques, melodies and rhythmic traditions from around the world, presented by a diverse range of Sibelius Academy students from different departments. As collaboration and co-creation is at the center of the choir’s work, all the music you hear emerges from the student’s own cultures and initiatives. For this performance, the 27 singers have brought songs from their own traditions, including classical music, Iraqi poetry, traditional Bulgarian music, Catalonian dance, Finnish tradition and Brazilian samba.

  • Global Choir Leaders – Global Music department and Open University

Together with Global Choir and guest groups, the conducting students from Global Choir Leadership will invite everybody to join and sing and fill the hall with sound and joy.
