Academy Woodwinds – Night at the opera
The spirit, airiness and elegant melodies of French music play a central role in the concert.
Martin’s viola concert is a breath of 1920s French neoclassicism. Enescu’s pieces are filled with French romanticism and the evening culminates with Carmen.
Academy Winds, the Sibelius Academy wind band established by Peter Ettrup Larsen in 2012, meets each season under the leadership of prestigious international conductors for a period of 4–6 days to practice and perform significant pieces of symphonic wind instrument music.
The invitation to Midwest Clinic in 2014 was the first international opportunity for the ensemble. Academy Winds includes separate brass and woodwind ensembles Academy Brass and Academy Woodwinds.
