The alumni network's purpose is to maintain a relationship between the university and its former students and to create a connected community of graduates. Join the alumni network!
Who are the alumni?
All former degree and exchange students of the Academy of Fine Arts, Sibelius Academy, and Theatre Academy are Uniarts Helsinki’s alumni.
Former students of the School of the Fine Arts Academy of Finland, the predecessor of the Academy of Fine Arts, are also considered Academy of Fine Arts alumni.
Former students of the Finnish Theatre School and Swedish Theatre School, the predecessors of the Theatre Academy, are also considered Theatre Academy alumni.

Alumni events are regularly organized by the academies, departments or study programmes at the University of the Arts Helsinki. More information is sent to those registered as alumni.
At the events, the alumni meet old acquaintances and current students and teachers. The programme normally includes discussions on art forms and related topics, getting to know the Academy's current operations and chatting with colleagues.
Coming alumni events
Alumni events in English will be announced later.
What does the alumni network do?
Mentoring is collaboration between alumni and students, aiming to support students in their professional development and transition to work life. Sibelius Academy has a mentor programme for master’s degree students. The Theatre Academy provides mentoring for both bachelor’s and master’s degree students.
The Academy of Fine Arts is focusing on international initiatives in order to achieve new levels of excellence in visual art education. The new international residency program brings together university-level arts education, free-form creative work, and teacher and student communities. Resident scholarships offer the Academy of Fine Arts Alumni an opportunity for artistic and theoretical postgraduate studies on high-end residencies abroad.
University of the Arts Helsinki alumni are recognized artists in their own fields and are frequently asked to lecture on their art to students. Acquainting oneself with different career paths and experiences is fruitful for students.
The alumni are invited to different events to, for instance, give speeches for students at graduation ceremonies and at openings.
Placement after graduation
The University of the Arts Helsinki monitors the placement of students after graduation with the help of career monitoring surveys, statistical data and other qualitative data.
Career monitoring surveys of the Aarresaari network
Universities monitor issues related to the quality and appropriateness of academic employment with career monitoring surveys. Surveys are targeted at Master's and Bachelor's degree graduates (Master's degree career monitoring) who have completed their studies approximately five years earlier and doctoral degree graduates who have completed their studies 2–3 years earlier (Doctoral degree career monitoring). Nationwide career monitoring surveys are implemented as a collaboration project of the universities.
A detailed description on the use and storing of the data can be read in the data file description of the survey.
Education administration's reporting portal Vipunen provides statistical data on the employment of graduates. The Ministry of Education and Culture and the Finnish National Board of Education are jointly responsible for the content on the website.
