The University of the Arts Helsinki Admitted 284 New Students
The admission results of the University of the Arts Helsinki are now available. The university admitted 284 new Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students, out of which 25 were admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts, 174 to the Sibelius Academy, and 85 to the Theatre Academy. The University of the Arts Helsinki is one of the most sought-after schools in Finland, as approximately merely 8 % of the applicants were admitted to the school. Out of all the selected students, 97 % had listed the University of the Arts Helsinki as their first choice in their Joint application to higher education.
The university received a total of 3906 applications to Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree programmes (the number of applicants was 3479). Out of the applications, 663 were to the Academy of Fine Arts, 1197 to the Sibelius Academy, and 2046 to the Theatre Academy. The next application period for the master studies at the Academy of Fine Arts will open not until autumn 2018.
Out of the applicants who got accepted into a programme leading to a Bachelor’s and/or a Master’s degree, 80 % were first-time applicants or applicants who are regarded as first-time applicants.
The most popular programmes were Degree Programme in Acting in Finnish (1,209 applications / 12 selected), the 5.5.-year programme of the Academy of Fine Arts (663/25), Classical Music Performance with an instrument as the main subject (405/78) and Music Education (266/30).
