Global Fest workshops
Global Fest offers a series of workshops during the festival. Workshops include opportunities to explore rhythm, body and vocal work as well as interactive sessions for families and informationabout applying for Global Music studies at Sibelius Academy. Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is required.
- 18–18.45 Merzi Rajala: Global Choir Workshop (Black Box). Games and exercises to improve singers own musicianship through developing rhythmic skills, improvisation and rhythmic expression in a choral context.
- 12–12:45 Nathan Riki Thomson: Intro to Global Music studies at Sibelius Academy (Room 7104). This session is open to anyone interested in learning more about the Global Music study lines offered at Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki. The session includes information on courses offered as well as how to apply for Bachelor and Master’s studies. Meeting in front of Musiikkitalo’s info at 11:50.
- 13–13.45 Arja Paju: Global Rhythm and Body Workshop (Room 7106). This workshop will explore rhythm in a playful and creative way through the integration of body and voice. The foundation of the rhythmic material is based on inspiration from Africa and Latin America. Participant limit 20. Meeting in front of Musiikkitalo’s info desk at 12:50. - 13-13.45 Interactive Family Workshop (Black Box). Come and take part as a family in an informal music and movement workshop led by students from the Global Music Programme. Fun warmup exercises, games, rhythms, singing and dancing. No musical experience necessary. Designed for children and parents / carers to participate in the workshop together. Participant limit 50.
