The best things about the Mentoring Program were interaction and sharing
The fifth mentoring programme concluded on 12th April 2018with the distribution of the mentors’ certificates and the Suvivirsi hymn. At the final joint event, participants assessed the fruits of the process over the academic year and offered feedback for developing the programme. In the view of both mentors and actors, the best parts this year, too, were the interaction, getting to know new people, and sharing. The most challenging thing was finding space in diaries for meetings. On the subject of challenges, setting goals for the meeting was also mentioned several times.
The joint events were really popular and people hoped an extra one would be held. The mentors backed the idea of one meeting targeted at mentors alone. In their opinion, when developing education, SibA ought to strengthen links with working life and hold working life meetings.
A warm thanks once again to all mentors for your valuable support for Sibelius Academy students. In the next academic year, the mentoring programme will be taking a break.
The Sibelius Academy mentoring programme has been active since 2013. It aims at easing the students' transition to the professional life and offer them so-called silent knowledge of the field. Annually approximately 20 students have participated - since the beginning, about 80 students. Also the mentors have been interested in the programme; 8 of them have participated already twice and one three times.
