Academy of Fine Arts Admission Results 2017
Applications to all University of the Arts educations are completed in the national Joint Application to higher education. The application period was from the 10 January to the 25 January 2017.
Applicants have been able to apply for a maximum of six educations in the Joint Application, and they had to set the educations in the order of preference. The order is binding. Applicants can be accepted as a student only to one education in Joint Application. If an applicant has set some other education higher in the order of preference than the Academy of Fine Arts education in the Joint Application online form, and they are accepted to the education with the higher priority, they cannot be accepted as a student at the Academy of Fine Arts.
The Academy of Fine Arts has sent an email on 8 June 2017 to those who are accepted as students and those on the reserve list. Some e-mail clients may treat our messages as spam. Please check the spam folder as well. Applicants can also inquire the results via email.
New students are to accept their study places by 3.00 pm Finnish time on 14 July 2017.
Admission for 5.5-year studies leading to Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degree
In admission for 5.5-year programme leading to Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degree, altogether 703 applications were submitted through the online application system Studyinfo. Based on their language skills, 625 applicants were eligible to apply for the studies. The artistic sample works, demanded by the Academy of Fine Arts, were received from 430 applicants. Of these, 63 applicants were invited to partake in the admission course and 61 of them participated to the course.

The admitted applicants will receive more information about the procedure, on accepting the study place, and on how to enrol for the academic year by e-mail.
The sample works and works done during the admission course are to be collected on Thursday 8 June 2017 or Friday 9 June 2017. During both days the place is open between 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Address: Mäkelänkatu 58-60 (entrance through Elimäenkatu 29, 5th floor), Helsinki, Finland. Any uncollected works or works without sufficient reply postage will be destroyed.
Applicants who partook in the admission course, but were not admitted, can get feedback from a member of the Admission Jury, Stig Baumgartner, by telephone on Friday 9 June 2017, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm (13–15) local Helsinki time, tel. +358 50 5204 326.
HOW TO REQUEST FOR RECTIFICATION
Applicants can apply for rectification of this decision from the University of the Arts Helsinki under the Universities Act (558/2009), section 82.
The right of appeal means that the applicant has the possibility to request for rectification if there is a reason to believe that there has been an error in the decision-making process. The right of appeal is not intended as a means for receiving feedback or asking for further information about the application process. A written request for rectification should be submitted to the university within 14 days of the publication of the final admission result.
Content of the request for rectification
The admission decisions are based on the information that the applicant has delivered to the University of the Arts Helsinki by the given deadline. The request for rectification must specify the subject matter of the rectification as well as the grounds for it. The request for rectification should contain the applicant’s name, Finnish social security code/date of birth and contact information and be signed either by the applicant or by the applicant’s authorised representative. The request should specify the target programme (or programmes) that the request concerns. If you are sending the request for rectification by e-mail, please write the name of the academy in the subject field.
Delivery of the request for rectification
The request for rectification must be in writing and it must be submitted to the University of the Arts Helsinki Registry. The request for rectification must arrive to the Registry within fourteen days of the announcement of the final admission results. The sender is responsible for the delivery of the request for rectification. The request is sent to the following address:

Ban on appeals
A decision, for which a rectification may be requested under the Universities Act Section 82, may not be appealed against in the administrative court before the rectification process has been completed. An appeal against a decision concerning a rectification request shall be lodged with the administrative court.
