The Fourth International Maj Lind Piano Competition: First round 2
The Fourth International Maj Lind Piano Competition will be held at the Helsinki Music Centre, Helsinki on August 17–31, 2017. The competition is open to pianists born in or after 1987. It will consist of a first and a second round, from which an international Jury will select six competitors for the chamber music and orchestral finals. Updated details of the repertoire will be posted on the composition website majlindcompetition.fi.
In the first round, competitors will perform a programme lasting not more than 45 minutes as specified in the competition rules. This will include a Prelude and Fugue by J.S. Bach, a Viennese Classical work, three Etudes, and work composed after 1965.
About 40 competitors will be selected for the first round. The order of performance will be determined in a draw held at 12 noon on August 17, 2017 and posted on the competition website. Alterations to the schedule are possible should any competitors withdraw or the Jury timetables so demand. These will be posted on the competition website.
The Fourth International Maj Lind Piano Competition will be held in Helsinki, Finland on August 17–31, 2017. Founded in 1945 as a national competition, it became international in 2002. Young pianists from all over the world meet to compete in Helsinki at intervals of five years.
