Practise, lessons, school… and repeat. Piano student Chen Qu’s everyday life consists of a lot of work but she is also enjoying her freetime in Helsinki.

”My piano teacher is a top professional but also a very kind person. He helps us develop our musicality in our own way – since we are all different. I feel like each one of his students is like a little tree – and he’s like the gardener helping us grow, trimming and cutting off excess branches to help us flourish.

The last Prognostics lecture of the spring season is given by artist duo Hesselholdt & Mejlvang. Their lecture ‘A Discussion between Us and the World – the art practice of Hesselholdt & Mejlvang’ focuses on their interest in social and political structures that are being established and reproduced in society. National identity, Eurocentrism, and the creation of a collective We that exceeds these notions are the focal themes in their art practice.

Sophie Behal, Isadora Epstein, Eoghan McIntyre and Benjamin Stafford visited Exhibition Laboratory on 28th of February with their Fool’s Guild performance lecture.

Fools are marginal figures; they transgress custom and convention and by doing so are marked as outsiders. Often this marginalisation is due to ineptitude; a fool’s labours are often marked by the absence of skill, finesse or ingenuity. The Fool’s Guild are a fictional group of artists and curators who advocate foolishness, folly and incompetence as an art making tactic.
